The three opiates

What we consider fundamental never really is.

Money. Religion. Personal vendettas we have towards those who, knowingly or unknowingly, hurt us.

Sadly, these fundamentals make the world go round because of a lazy abdication of our agency.

If money was really fundamental to life, how come so many, applying themselves and deconstructing the illusion of money, learnt to live without it.

If religion were really fundamental to living, why then does it leave unanswered the questions that percolate from mindful engagement with its texts.

In the case of personal vendettas and the illusion of fundamentalism, we are blamers. We blame ourselves, our governments, mosques, churches, children…someone. But blame doesn’t stop our pain, it takes our eyes off of it.

These three opiates that douse love, faith and pain, leave us less human with every passing generation.
