No matter how traumatizing some people you meet might be—a toxic spouse, a disagreeable colleague or a narcissistic love interest—always remember, if you believe in Jesus Christ, that you belong to God. As much as you would like to take the blame for meeting such people and endure the regret, He knew you’d meet them and in fact, He put them on your path to perfect something that was deficient in you.
God doesn’t shape you to live in this contraption called time. You are eternal, and the experience of abuse, disappointment, divorce or betrayal, though painful, only amounts to unimaginable good for you.
Rather than dig your heels or hold out your hands in grudging surrender, have a victory dance every time you remember the hurt, the person or both.
