How to get well, biblically 5

Today we take another step closer to restoring your health permanently and in this post, we will learn about:

Meditating on the Word

Then the Spirit entered me when He (God) spoke to me, and set me on my feet; and I heard Him who spoke to me.’—Ezekiel 2:2.

To recover from any sickness you will need to shut off the carnal mind that produces sickness unto death and switch on the spiritual mind that brings about recovery and health. To do this, you will need to grasp a meditative process. I know that depending on where you are in the world, the word, ‘meditation’, could spark off ideas about mindfulness, yoga or breathing exercises. However, meditation in the context of the Bible means to become deeply conscious of—in this case—your ability to recover from any sickness as provided by God, your Father.

This consciousness, as it heightens over a period, produces your recovery from sickness, no matter how advanced the symptoms may be. Quantum physicists term this the auto-hypnotic process, but it is simply rehearsing what God has said about your health in the conscious and subconscious parts of your mind until you know it to be absolute truth, and then your body conforms to it in totality.

First, you must come to terms with what it means to meditate the Christian way.

What is Christian Meditation?

In Joshua 1:8, the Bible says, ‘This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.’

Although the word ‘meditation’ generally brings to mind Eastern religions and mysticism, meditation for God’s children is more akin to Joshua 1:8.

The root Hebrew context from which the word, ‘meditate’ is translated encapsulates five unique elements that give it a very different meaning from its general usage. It is a process that entails pondering, muttering, affirming, roaring and visualizing what God has said about a condition, place or person in Christ.

X-raying each of the five elements of Christian meditation is important because once you know how to meditate; you are halfway to recovery.

Let us examine each.

1.      Pondering

Pondering the word of God means, mentally turning over scriptures in your mind. Here, you look at a verse of scripture and consider it in your mind. You think about what it means to you at the moment.

2.      Muttering

Muttering the word of God follows pondering. Here, you say the verse under your breath, repeating it over and over. At this point, you are barely audible but the meaning of what you are saying under your breath starts to gain ascendency in your mind as it blocks out other thoughts.

3.      Affirming
Affirming the word of God is saying the verse aloud in a personalized way. Now, after you have begun this process, the affirmations you make during your daily meditation may come back to your mind during the course of the day; say them aloud at every opportunity.

4.      Roaring
Roaring the word of God is the forceful personalized proclamation of the verse you have pondered, muttered and affirmed. The significance of this is its auto-hypnotic effect. You are rewriting health into every fibre of your being.

5.  Visualizing
Visualizing the word of God is imagining these verses coming to pass in your life. It is also letting the verses come alive in your mind. For me, a scripture that stood out during my own recovery was Psalm 147:3, ‘He (God) heals the broken-hearted and binds up their wounds.’ I would literally picture and feel God binding up all the internal lacerations I had sustained during the fall.

Yielding to all five elements of meditation may seem cumbersome at the beginning but it will eventually come to you, so do not be worried. When you first start meditating, you might just ponder and mutter the Bible verses, but as the word of God begins to dominate your mind and seep into your spirit, muttering, affirming, roaring and visualizing these verses you are meditating upon will follow. By this time, you will know with every fibre of your being that you are on course to recovery. And it would not be long before the symptoms vanish.

A quick word of advice: practice secluding yourself during times of meditation.

Endeavour to meditate at least twice every day until the symptoms vanish and please continue to follow your treatment regimen if you have any.

If the doctors have told you that you cannot have a child or that you have a short while left to live, this is the solution. You must take out your Bible, find the relevant verses and meditate on what God has said about your health, the Christian way.

By pondering, muttering, affirming, roaring and visualizing all the verses of the Bible about healing and health, you can recover from any sickness.

Now that you know how to meditate, it is time to do the work.

In the final chapter of this book, I will leave you with everything God has said about your health in the Bible.

Meditate on these things. Give yourself wholly to them, and your recovery will be evident to all.

We are one more post away and in my last post of this series, you would have been equipped with everything you need to get well, biblically. Read these posts chronologically prayerfully and have the Lord reveal these secrets in your spirit. God bless you.
